Ella Mae Butler Ellis
Ella Mae Butler Ellis died at her home surrounded by her family on March 1, 2010.
She was predeceased by her husband Robert Melvin Ellis and her son Charles Ashley Ellis.
She was survived by four children, Barbara Grewe, Sandy Benton, Mike Ellis and wife Deborah, all of Suffolk. Linda Lassiter and husband Linwood of Franklin. Seven grandchildren, Kenny Engum and wife Archie, Carol L. Ellis and husband Paul, Jason Ellis and wife Michelle, Lynn Jacobs, Chris Ellis, April Salmon and Tiffany Kitchen. She was blessed with 13 great grandchildren; Crystal Ellis-Ward, Jessica and Honey Engum, Crystal and Cameron Ellis, Micala Langston, Noah Justice, Taylon Staggs, Alexis Jacobs, Isaac Wilson, Maddy Salmon, Gavin and Blain Ellis. To complete the fifth generation of her family she was also blessed with one great-great grandchild, Braxton Ellis Ward.
Ella Mae was a member of Bethel Assembly of God in Suffolk. She loved the Lord and had a strong undying faith. She was dedicated to her family and loved them dearly.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday March 3, 2010 at 1:30 P.M. at the Bethel Assembly of God, 8904 South Quay Road, Suffolk, Virginia by Pastor T. R. King and Mr. Ashley Ellis. Burial will be at Southampton Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the R. W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory, 509 W. Washington Street, Suffolk Tuesday, March 2, 2010 from 7 to 8:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 2547, Virginia Beach, VA 23450.
