After graduating from Woodstock Academy, Bryant enlisted in the United States Navy, worked through the ranks and retired as a Chief Culinary Specialist. He then pursued a career at Plasser American and after many years grew to become the Purchasing Manager. He was a kind, loving, and selfless husband, and always encouraged his children to be the best they could be. He was never without a witty joke that was enjoyed by all. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with friends and family and the peacefulness of his home in the countryside.

I grew up with Bryant and his brother Ron in Woodstock Valley, CT in the 70s. We had the kind of adventures together you dream about as boys; building forts in the woods, riding our bikes around the lake and all the secrete little trails and paths we knew about, fishing, camping and cooking over a fire, playing baseball and football, listening to music, sneaking apples from the nearby orchard. Looking back on them, our adventures together were almost like lost chapters from Huckleberry Finn… But none of it would have been so magical without the spirit inside each of us that brought out the joy and discovery of life together as young boys.

Bryant, or as I knew him, "Bry" was the guy you always wanted to be around. His kind heart and happy nature made everyone feel like he was a brother. I'm 58 now and haven't seen Bry since we were still just boys getting ready to take the next step in life. I dearly hoped to see him again like I did only recently with Ron. I loved Bry…. Who wouldn't, ya know? I'm very lucky I got to grow up with such good soul. We spent day after day together as kids, at his house, or mine or one of the other kid's houses in the Valley. I have nothing but the fondest of memories of my boyhood pal and will forever be grateful that I got to grow up with him and call him my friend.

God bless you Bry - your old pal, Ken

Julie, I just found out about Smurf. I'm so sorry. Deepest condolences to you and the rest of the family. He's going to be missed by many. It's been years since we've seen each other but he's never been forgotten. Until we meet again, Godspeed my brother.

Bryant is another "Plasser Man" that will be sorely missed! We were colleagues, NAVY vets and I'd like to say friends. He had a great spirit and wit! He was ALWAYS there to assist with anything in any way he could.
Condolences to his family. He is gone way too soon but lives on in all of you!
Until we meet again brother!

You have been like a brother to me and taken wonderful care of my sister . You were one to look up to and admire.
Your presence is going to be missed and the children will carry memories of time spent with you as they share parts if your story with the next generation of Defonseca's , Knapp's and related adopted family members .

As my Plasser colleagues have all alluded, Bryant was truly a good guy. He has that rare ability to make anyone's day better. A laugh, a joke, just a positive person. I would.like to dedicate the 2 o'clock coffee to Bryant, a coffee connoisseur.

I have worked with Bryant over 13 years, and he was more than a colleague, I considered him family. A great person to have known. He will be largely missed.
