Surrounded by her loved ones, Cecelia Walton Anderson departed this life on February 15, 2023. Cecelia was born on July 15, 1946, in Lynchburg, Virginia to Andrew W. and Katherine C. Walton.
Cecelia attended Lynchburg Public Schools and graduated from E. C. Glass High School. She earned her undergraduate degree from the College of William & Mary and her master’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. Cecelia found her calling as an elementary school teacher. The majority of her 34 year career was with Portsmouth City Public Schools. After retiring, Cecelia continued to educate children as a substitute teacher in Gates County. She also worked in the Gates County Public Library for several years. Cecelia volunteered with numerous organizations and was especially active with the Friends of the Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge. Mostly, she loved to be with her family.
Cecelia is predeceased in death by her parents. She is survived by her devoted husband, Troy G. Anderson; her children H.K. Reveley III, Andrew Reveley, Jeff Reveley (Tida), and Rachel Beale (Steven); and a sister, Susan Walton Fary. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Landon Beale, Harper Beale, Cala Reveley, Lydia Reveley, and Carter Beale.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at R.W Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, Downtown Suffolk Chapel, 509 W. Washington St. Family will receive friends one hour prior at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
Her family would like to thank those who sustained her during her final months. In lieu of flowers or donations, we ask that you take a moment to hug your mom and dad, sister and brother, children and grandchildren, spouse and friends, take a walk on the beach, or read a good book.
