Christopher Lee Richister

Christopher Lee Richister, 49, of Suffolk, VA passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2022. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Woodrow L. and Nora Vernell (Grantham) Richister; and maternal grandparents, Charles Peeples and Helen Maree (Halford) Barnes Ross.

Christopher served his country for 20 years in the United States Coast Guard. He was a proud veteran who loved God and his country, a true patriot. Prior to his service, Christopher graduated from Patrick Henry Academy and obtained an associate’s degree from The University of South Carolina. He was a great father and his sons were his pride and joy. He enjoyed trips to the mountains with his boys as well as hunting and all things outdoors. He was a loving father and son. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his parents, Woodrow Stanley “Butch” Richister and Bettis (Barnes) Richister; sons, Jayce McSwain Richister, Bryan Thomas Richister, and Taylor Richister Sokolik; brother, Lt. Col. Woodrow Stanley “Stan”, Jr., USAF; nieces, Audra Elizabeth and Ambralyn Noelle Richister; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

His service will be held at Berea Christian Church, 4109 Driver Ln, Suffolk, VA 23435 , Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at 11 am officiated by Rev. Robert L. Stovall. Further services, officiated by Rev. Dr. James Franklin Norris III, will be held in South Carolina at Lawtonville Baptist Church. Interment will be at Lawtonville Cemetery, Estill, SC. Dates and times to be determined. R.W. Baker Funeral & Company North Chapel is serving the family. Online condolences may be registered at RWBakerFH.com

Sorry this is late me and my daughter went through a lot when we found out that he was gone. Chris was an awesome person I a single mom and my daughter had no dad figure and he had step in. She now has that hole again, all I can say is thank you and I miss you.

Chris was one of the kindest and most thoughtful people I have ever known. I will miss your calls and our long conversations. Your silly humor always lifted me up. I know you are having the best time in heaven. Looking forward to seeing you again. My deepest condolences to the family. My heart goes out to all of you.
