Cora Elizabeth Cannon McEwen

Cora Elizabeth Cannon McEwen of Franklin passed away on January 19, 2019. Born August 16, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Frank Leslie Cannon and Rosaline Colman Cannon. Mrs. McEwen was the owner of McEwen Interiors in Haymarket and volunteered numerous years teaching and playing the organ and piano at many churches; including St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Franklin. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William R.H. McEwen, Jr.; brothers, Joseph P. Cannon, and Frank Leslie Cannon, Jr., and her sisters, Mary Ann Cannon Anderson Marshall, and Rosaline Yates.


Left to cherish her memory are her sons, William R.H. McEwen III, Brian Keith McEwen and wife, Victoria and Todd Leslie McEwen and wife, Bette; daughter, Elizabeth McEwen Smith and husband, Michael; grandchildren, William R.H. McEwen IV, Brian Keith McEwen, Jr., Mark Allen McEwen, Wendy Elizabeth Spence, Eric Leslie Spence, Patrick Nicholas Spence, Daniel Todd McEwen and his wife, Amelia, Krystal Lawhorne, and her husband, Jamie, Angela Plaster McEwen, and Trevor Lee Spence; great grandchildren, Trent Lawhorne, Bryce McEwen, Blake E. Bailey, Kailynn Lawhorne, and Lilyan Lawhorne and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Thursday, January 24, 2019 at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home, Wakefield Chapel from 6 to 8:00 pm. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, January 25, 2019 at The Shrine of the Infant Jesus of Prague Catholic Church with Father Charles Saglio celebrating. Burial will follow at Wakefield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105, or the Virginia Beach SPCA, 3040 Holland Rd. Virginia Beach, VA 23453.
