JoAnn Sheppard More

JoAnn Sheppard More, 76, died April 28, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Mildred E. and Charles E. Sheppard.

JoAnn was a faithful member of Smithfield Baptist Church and enjoyed serving her church family. She enjoyed spending time with her family and playing bridge. JoAnn worked for the U.S. Forest Service and retired from the Social Security Administration. She graduated from Ferguson High School in Newport News and Smithdeal Massey Business College in Richmond.

She is survived by her husband Charles T. More; two children Laura Jackson (Robert) of Richmond VA, and Andrew More (Tammy) of Newport News; grandchildren Benjamin and Kristin Jackson, Willliam Dean, Kendra and Madilyn More; great-grandchildren Jayden Dean, Aleysha Dean, and Elana More; and siblings Sandra Belshan, Susan Neely, and Charles R. Sheppard.

A funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Patrick Wood on Monday, May 3, 2021, 4 PM at Smithfield Baptist Church. Burial will be held on Tuesday at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. A procession will depart for the cemetery from Smithfield Baptist Church on Tuesday at 9 AM. Baker-Foster Funeral Home, 5685 Lee Farm Lane, Suffolk VA 23435 is serving the family.
