Joseph R. Doxey, Sr.

Joseph R. Doxey, Sr. "Bobby", went to meet our Lord on December 16, 2021 after battling a lengthy illness. He is predeceased by his father, Haywood Doxey; mother, Mary G. Doxey; and brother, William Doxey.

Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Vicky Jean Fenton Doxey; his one and only precious son, Joseph R. Doxey, Jr. "Joey" and his wife, Tara Doxey, and his eyeball, only grandchild, Madison Lynn Doxey; other family members; and his 23lb cat, Ziggy.

His other family was Data Business Systems, where he was employed for 40 years and cherished the friendships he made over these years.

In lieu of flowers and Bobby being an animal lover the family would like for donations be made to The Suffolk Humane Society, 412 Kings Fork Rd., Suffolk, Va 23434.

Bobby understood what being successful in life is all about; Give abundantly to others (and animals), be kind, be grateful and be humble. Bobby is one of the really great guys and we were all better people because we knew him.

Although we've only known Bobby for the past year his heart was warm and welcoming as he and Vicky helped us start our business finances. We will be forever grateful. Vicky, Joey and your families please accept our condolences.

Bobby was a very dear friend/coworker and will always hold a special place in my heart. I will miss his silly antics, getting his messages with jokes or motivational words and will always cherish the memories of our fabricated stories starring "Juan Carlos" that has gone on for many years. He was an amazing human being and will be deeply missed. My deepest sympathies to Ms. Vicky, Joey and Madison.

Bobby will be missed more than words can begin to express. Bobby was the first person I met at DBS in 1991. His kind spirit, contagious humor and love of family made him a role model I cherish all these years later. I am keeping the Doxey family, and all who knew and loved Bobby in my prayers.

Ms. Vicky, Joey and Madison – I am so very sorry for your loss! While Bobby was a great co-worker to everyone at DBS, he was also a very dear friend to me. That friendship is one that I will cherish forever. Through Bobby, I came to know and love each of you, and he did love you all so very much. I remember when Madison came along – I saw a new sparkle in his eyes every time he would talk about her, which continued to the last day he was at our office. I truly will miss the daily texts and messages he would send each morning, along with all the advice, laughs and jokes throughout the years. They are all very special memories. Bobby was a great friend, co-worker, and just an overall wonderful person.
