Judy Burgess

Judy Burgess, 76, of Wakefield, Va. passed away on Friday, October 21, 2022. She was born to the late Charles Henry and Claudine Breedlove Taylor. She was raised in Wilsons, Va. and graduated from McKenney high school in 1964.

Judy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She loved cooking, singing, the beach, and being with her family. She especially enjoyed playing games with her grandchildren. She was a faithful member of Wakefield Baptist, where she played the piano for many years. Judy was a registered nurse and retired after 20 years of hard work from Southside Regional Medical Center. After her retirement she continued to care for not only her family, but others. Wherever she was needed, she would go. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Burgess; children, Alice Gail Matthews (Kevin) and Leslie Goodrich (Ronnie, Jr.); stepson, Joey Burgess (Hilary); stepdaughter, Annette Haywood (Buster); grandchildren, Ryan Benson, Allison Francis (DJ), K.J. Matthews (Desiree), Hunter Haywood (Kylie), Courtney Cox (Baker), Whitney Haywood, Maya Burgess, and Haley Burgess; great grandchildren, Kylie, Ryan II, Collin, Liam, Aodhan, and Huxton; siblings, Chuck Taylor and Jean Powers; and nephews, Jeff and Kirk Powers.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on, Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at Wakefield Baptist Church, 104 W Church St. officiated by Dr. Jim Rogers. Family will receive friends one hour prior at the church. Burial will follow at Wakefield Cemetery; 205 Church St. R.W.
