Paula Ann Bishop

Paula Ann Kennedy Bishop, age 64, of 413 B. South Broad Street in Suffolk died Saturday March 2, 2019 in her slumber at Maryview Medical Center. She was the only adopted child of her predeceased parents, Oscar and Rachael Wills Kennedy. Upon her birth, she was named in honor of her late grandfather and uncle, Paul August Kennedy Sr. and Paul A . Kennedy Jr.

She was employed at Sentara Bayside Hospital and Sentara Princess Anne Hospital for 20 plus years as a monitor surveillance technician. Prior to entering healthcare, she was employed briefly as an elementary art school teacher with Hampton City Schools. She was a graduate of Old Dominion University and attended Longwood University for two years. Paula achieved 4H All-Star Status in 1972 and received many awards showing her horses that she dearly loved. Her love of “Muggles” will surely whisk her away to an even more enchanting afterlife as she also enjoyed J.K. Rowlings book series, Harry Potter.

Paula leaves behind to cherish her memory one daughter, Melanie Kennedy Bishop of Suffolk, VA. A service of remembrance will be held at Main Street United Methodist Church, 202 N. Main St. Suffolk, VA on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to Main Street UMC, 202 N. Main St. Suffolk, VA, 23434.The family is being served by R.W. Baker & Co. So very sorry to hear this sad news. I lived down the street from Paula growing up and enjoyed many happy hours in her backyard playhouse. Prayers are with you, Melanie and Becki.

I also lived in the neighborhood, and can remember Paula the best as a fun childhood playmate. Condolences to all. To my friend, Becki Williams, I know the sting must be very hard, after all the many years of close friendship. I believe that Gods Love always helps us recover from the hurt and anguish that life hands us. You will be in my thoughts.
