Richard T. Decker
Richard T. Decker, also known as Papou to friends and family, passed away on Thursday, October 14, 2021, following a brief illness. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Katherine.
After serving 4 years in the United States Navy, Richard earned a Bachelors of Science from Old Dominion University. He worked as comptroller for several local car dealerships over the years, retiring from Williams Honda in Hampton, VA. After retirement he devoted his time to Katherine and to being a major part of his grandsons’ lives.
Richard is survived by his son, Robert; grandsons, Kyle and Kody; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A graveside service will be held at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Rd. Suffolk, VA 23434 on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at 10am with military honors. A visitation will be held before the service from 8 AM to 9 AM at Baker-Foster Funeral Home, 5685 Lee Farm Ln. Suffolk, VA 23435. Condolences may be registered at RWBakerFH.com
Like Gary Frisk, I was also a boyhood friend of Dick Decker. I cherish the time I spent with Dick, when we grew up together in Hammondsport, NY. May God bless and keep you, my frIend, until we meet again. Dick Decker, rest in eternal peace.

I just found out about Richards passing. How sad. So sorry I missed his funeral. I worked with him at Williams Honda for a long time.

He was a wonderful guy. We grew up in the same village, and I had a lot of respect for him. Sending sincere sympathy to his family.

RIP my life long childhood friend, we sure had a lot of great times, and I am really going to miss you. We rode bikes, stayed over at each others house, played baseball, just an all out great guy, condolences to the Family
