We met Ry through Gary and Estelle Spachmann. He often came to the eastern shore to visit them. We were often included when he was here for dinner. Ry was always a kind, gracious, and interesting man. We enjoyed the time we were able to spend with him. Condolences to his family.

Mary Jean, sorry to read of Ryland's passing. Hope prayers and memories sustain the family doing this time. Ryland's passing evokes many memories of our years growing up in King & Queen as neighbors and Pleasant Hill classmates.

I had the opportunity to work along side Rye for many years at Virginia Beach MS. We were not only colleagues but became good friends over the years. We often celebrated our birthdays together because they were a day apart. Rye was a true gentleman, professional and friend. I will miss celebrating with him in December. Karen Hatfield
