Sara Rachel Jones

Sara Rachel Jones, age 80, of Ivor, VA, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, January 9, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Edna Mae Wells and Clarence E. Crocker. She was preceded in death by her brother, Curtis E. Crocker, Sr.

Mrs. Jones was a native of Isle of Wight County and a member of Mill Swamp Baptist Church. Before retiring, she worked for the Isle of Wight County Public School system for 37 years driving a school bus and serving students in the cafeterias. Outside of work, for many years she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, fishing in the James River, camping, crocheting, gardening and canning vegetables and fruits, making fruit jellies, jams, and preserves, and visiting the Great Smoky Mountains.

Mrs. Jones is survived by her husband of over 64 years, Robert Earl Jones; sister, Fannie Mae Britt of Dendron; brother, Clarence Wilson Crocker (Betty) of Ivor; two sons, Robert Theodore Jones of Ivor and David Earl Jones (Deborah) of Windsor; two daughters, Janet Leah Jones of Ivor and Melissa Jones of Ivor; and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

A graveside funeral service will be held at Mill Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 1 PM, with Pastor Billy Gardner officiating. The family will receive friends in the R.W. Baker & Co. Wakefield Chapel on Tuesday from 6 to 7 PM. Condolences may be posted at RWBakerFH.com.

My heart is broken for you all. She was my mom in law at one time and she's always been like a mom to me. She was there for me at one of the lowest times of my life and I'll forever be grateful. She loved everyone deeply, especially her grandbabies and great grandbabies. They were some of her greatest blessings! She loved when they came to visit, when she got to go visit them, and she loved seeing their pictures posted to social media. She was "Nannie Poo" to me and there will never be another like her. I know she was saved and will be with God! It's not goodbye for me, I know I will see her again one day. Thinking of and praying for all of you now and in the coming days. May God wrap his arms around "Pop Paw" and you all and may the memories you have of her, help to bring you some comfort. Love you all.
